Will I love Long Shot?

I literally could not stop reading this book. To this day, it’s my favorite book by Kennedy Ryan.

It is an achy, angst-ridden novel that I couldn’t put down. Both Iris and August were compelling characters, and when they first met at the bar, their chemistry was undeniable. But Iris was in a relationship, and each time she and August met in the story, I could feel the longing.

If you like your romance with a side of drama and angst, then Long Shot is for you, my friend. This one is a contemporary sports romance but there is nothing light and fluffy about it. For most of this book, Iris is in and out of an abusive relationship (big content warnings for domestic violence and sexual assault). Long Shot is the most brutally honest and beautiful romance novel I have ever read, and undoubtedly one of my top reads of all time. There are so many elements of this story I loved, but what I loved most was how fearlessly Kennedy Ryan tackled the taboo subject of abuse -- specifically in the sports world. Full of heartache and evocative hope, this is an absolute must-read.

Kennedy is a fantastic writer, who brings you into the world of the NBA as if you've always belonged there. She's an emotional and gripping storyteller, who will have you holding your breath during certain moments, and wiping your tears in others. This story isn't for the faint of heart, but it's one of the best.
