Why read it?
1 author picked Internet for the People as one of their favorite books. Why do they recommend it?
Ben Tarnoff is one of my favorite contemporary tech critics. He’s always so sharp, cogent, and thoughtful. He has such a gift for articulating ideas that I’m starting to think but don’t quite have the words for—not only does he have the right words for it, but he knows which frameworks and thinkers to draw on to help us understand the situation better.
This book makes the case that the problems with the modern internet are a result of its privatization, and that getting out requires us to deprivatize. Well-argued, meticulously researched, and inspiring.
From Wendy's list on critical perspective on the tech industry.
