This is the origin story of the villain in Alice in Wonderland, the Red Queen. It’s dark, romantic, and devastating, full of twists and turns you’d never expect. It also tastefully incorporates other fairy tales and stories into the plot.

This was one of the most heartbreaking books I’ve read recently, but don’t let that stop you from meeting this clever idealist.
