Will I love Finlay Donovan Is Killing It?

I enjoyed being along for this wacky ride as Finlay accidentally gets herself hired as a contract killer, disposes of a body, and navigates the criminal underworld–all while raising her two small children and dealing with her infuriating ex-husband. There’s a love triangle in this book, but the relationship I enjoyed most was the friendship that develops between Finlay and Vero, her former nanny turned partner in crime.

This story is completely absurd, laugh-out-loud funny, and very suspenseful. 

This is the first book that was chosen by my brand new book club, The Very Suspicious Book Club (AKA VSB), and we are devouring this series.

The book is mysterious, witty, and so fun to dissect in a group setting. We meet every ten chapters and try to analyze clues that Elle may have left us as to whodunnit.

Finlay is a struggling novelist and always-broke single mom, at the mercy of her smarmy ex. Overheard talking about the plot of the novel that’s stalled on her computer, she is mistaken for a hit woman. Lured by an enormous payout, she goes along with the charade, thinking she can bow out at any time. This book is fun, fast-paced, over-the-top funny, and completely enjoyable. As a parent, it’s easy to relate to Finlay’s moments of what the absolute heck is going on? She navigates real-life problems in a funny, bordering on desperate, way that kept me reading. The swoons between Finlay happen with more than one love interest which isn’t typically my favorite but Cosimano makes it work so well. The dialogue is biting and witty and I definitely know who I want her to end up with.  

A catastrophic misunderstanding inside a Panera leads to one of the funniest books I’ve read in a long time! Finlay—the kind of mom who tapes her kid’s hair back into place after she has a fight with the scissors—is a hysterical narrator. Watching her bumble her way through a crime was an absolute delight! **Bonus: There’s some sexy stuff, too! Janet Evanovich readers will devour this series!!
