Will I love Everything, Everything?

Everything, Everything is everything I want in a young adult book, plus it’s like a teenage scrapbook filled with emails, homework assignments, and diagrams.

The chapters are short, which keeps the pacing ridiculously fast and gripping. Also, fun fact, the illustrations throughout the story were created by her husband, David Yoon. I love a creative couple duo.

This novel epitomizes why I, a middle-aged woman, still love reading young adult books. Those big feelings! Those firsts!

And in this one, too, forbidden love: a girl who isn’t allowed to leave the house because of a chronic illness nevertheless falls for a boy who she can only see through a window. At least at first… 

Maddy (a biracial black Asian teen) suffers from a rare illness that has made her allergic to literally everything! A modern-day “bubble girl,” the illness has kept her confined in her house for 15 years, her only company being her mom and her nurse. But when hot new neighbour Olly moves in across the street everything changes. Maddy falls in love and vows to leave the house and sneak away with Olly…cue the huge plot twist!
