I enjoyed the descriptions and flavor of the Captiva and Sanibel Islands, which I have visited on many occasions. In addition, the main character is a bit of a mystery himself. 

While reading, I wondered whether the main character was an ex-CIA agent, a secret agent, or a mercenary. I wondered where he got his moral compass from. I rooted for him to do the right thing, and he did.
