Why read it?

3 authors picked Broke Millennial as one of their favorite books. Why do they recommend it?

I really enjoyed reading this book because it was like sitting with a friend. I was quickly drawn in by Erin's first story about her Krispy Kreme donut, which started her financial journey.

She has a great way of explaining seemingly complex financial topics in easy-to-understand lingo. I think that’s what makes this book a great starter read on money. It’s simple yet impactful.

Broke Millennial is a practical guide to preparing for life after college. I appreciate that it provides readers with helpful tools and resources for understanding debt, investing, and establishing credit so individuals can develop healthy financial routines. Although written for a millennial audience, I think this book is an essential resource for current college students and recent graduates as well.

Broke Millennial: Stop Scraping By and Get Your Financial Life Together is a bit longer how-to financial book that will have you in stitches at her stories and turns of phrase while you are subconsciously absorbing financial lessons along the way. While she is absolutely qualified to write a personal finance book, my favorite qualification is “a journalism and theater double major with a deep-rooted hatred for math.” For those paralyzed by the thought of money or who feel they have to read 3 books, 10 blogs, and listen to 20 podcasts before they are equipped to open a savings…
