Will I love Boyfriend Material?

This was the first book by Alexis Hall I’ve read, and I fell in love with his writing. It’s witty and charming and perhaps a bit ridiculous at times. But that’s what makes it charming. Luc’s job is in danger unless he begins to get his life together. What job? He works for a nonprofit charity whose goal is to save the dung beetle—Coleoptera Research or Protection Project, or CRAPP. The solution? A fake boyfriend.

I loved the writing style of this book. I felt like I was sitting across from Luc, sharing coffee and listening to him tell me about his life like I would with a true, real-life friend.

And just like I would in real life, all throughout the book, I found myself shaking my head at some of Luc’s decisions and laughing with him when he found himself way over his head. So when Oliver came into his life and clearly became someone who was so obviously good for him, I was thrilled for my new friend. 

Okay, I have a type, but to be fair, I would recommend anything Hall had written.

This one is my favorite. Snarky British humor? Check. Flawed MC with a checkered past? Check. Uptight lawyer with a heart of gold? Check. Fake dating? Chemistry that leaps off the page? Check and check.

This book will make you laugh out loud, cheer, and cry real tears. Underneath the hilarity, there is real heart and soul to Hall's writing. You will root for Luc and Oliver like they're your own idiot friends who cannot see how in love with each other they are.

A British rom-com between a chaotic mess and a lawful good (D&D joke there). A fake relationship that develops real feelings and completely stole my heart. Laugh out loud funny, all-around feel good, even when things get dicey. Really great read when you need a break from high school. Which, given that I’m pushing 30 now, is much needed.
