Why read it?

3 authors picked Boneshaker as one of their favorite books. Why do they recommend it?

How could I resist steampunk zombies? Every character in this book is unique and memorable, and I admire their grit and ingenuity as they navigate the dangerous environment they live in.

I found it very refreshing to have a book focused on the relationship between a middle-aged mother and her teenage son, and that it was her love for him that drove all her choices.

Boneshaker is set in an alternate Seattle where a rampant machine unearthed toxic gas that turns people into zombies, and the only way to contain this disaster was to wall off the city. What I love about Boneshaker is how people remain defiantly close to the city and move on with their lives despite the toxic rain, the zombies clawing on the walls, and, even more so, the people who take it further and travel through the ruins of the once great city in an airship, or, if they’re daring, on foot.

Better pack your guns and your wits when…

Briar Wilkes will brave the warrens of a steampunk Seattle in order to find her runaway son. Twisting passages are full of the undead animated by a mysterious gas liberated by a drilling machine created by her deceased husband. But Seattle is a city that doesn't give up its secrets or those who venture within easily.
