This is a seriously funny book full of great dialogue. It’s also a great premise…the hero who makes a bet with his friend to sleep with said friend’s very cranky ex-girlfriend.

Min has just been recently dumped by a man she didn’t love, but she’s not in the mood to deal with any man’s ****. Cal is stupidly handsome, successful, and charming, but he needs to be brought down a peg or ten. This is opposites attract romance with lots of heart!

Minerva Dobbs knows she shouldn't trust Cal, the too-handsome man who asks her out on a date in order to win a bet.

Joke's on him, Min figures out that her stupid ex orchestrated that bet, and Min could use a free meal. Min is an actuary and plays the odds all the time. She doesn't believe in love. But fate keeps smushing her and Cal together, complete with their wacky friends, sexy shoes, donuts, and a cat who won't take no for an answer.

Wickedly witty women are a trademark of Crusie’s books, but none hold a candle to feisty and genuinely funny Minerva Dobbs. Min makes no apologies for being a curvy dame who puts her foot in her mouth almost as often as the chicken marsala she craves, but what I couldn’t get enough of was Min and Cal’s delectable sparring in the classic cat-and-mouse style of Hepburn and Tracy. This book was like my masterclass in the art of writing a slow burn, with teasing banter that kept my toes curled throughout.
