Why read it?

7 authors picked Attached as one of their favorite books. Why do they recommend it?

This is an excellent book about relationships and attachment theory, which describes our attachment styles in relationships. I loved reading this book because it taught me about my own attachment style and how I am in relationships.

This is a must-read for anyone who wants to learn about themselves in relationships. I enjoyed the concepts in the book and how relatable it was. I recommend this to every human being who would like a relationship. It is a great way to learn about yourself.

So many of us experience anxiety and it often comes out the most in our relationships.

By understanding our attachment style, we can start to show up differently in our relationships while having a better understanding of why others may act the way that they do. This book elucidates so much of human behavior, particularly regarding anxious and avoidant attachment and it gives us a roadmap for how to make different choices for the future so that we move towards more of that secure attachment.

From Lauren's list on how to cope and live with anxiety.

Have you ever wondered why certain people act certain ways in relationships?

Apparently, our attachment styles can be the reason why relationships are harder for some people more than others! Dr. Amir Levine and Rachel Heller do a great job of explaining the psychology and theory behind our relationship instincts in this book.

From Treva's list on dating and relationship advice.

What good is building a business without fulfilling relationships? This book will help you with building and fostering fulfilling relationships. This is one book I wish I had read much earlier in life because had I done so, I would have acquired a better mental model when it comes to establishing and maintaining relationships - romantic, professional, and everything in between.

Your attachment stylehow you “do” relationshipsis most often a lifetime deal, because it gets in so early and deep, most powerfully in the first 18 months of life. It drives and influences how we interact with others and how we see ourselves in relationships, and it deeply influences the kinds of partners we attract and are attracted to (even when they end up being precisely what we don’t need).

Understanding your attachment style (and perhaps that of your significant other), including the strengths and the pitfalls, can make a world of difference.
