Why read it?

3 authors picked Angelfall as one of their favorite books. Why do they recommend it?

Ee, the author, presents a very different image of angels, which is what I love about it. We usually see angels as protective of humans, willing to help us out of jams. In this series, Ee puts angels in the role of destroyers who hunt humans down to kill them.

I fell in love with the main characters. The story features a courageous girl raised by a “whacko” mother who must rescue her wheelchair-bound sister from angels who have abducted her. She encounters a fallen angel who has had his wings hewn off, and together, they form an unlikely alliance,…

Angelfall is a post-apocalypse novel, but not because of zombies or aliens. Angels are not the good guys they've been depicted as and they've caused chaos across Earth. Penryn's sister has been taken by the angels and her only hope of getting her back is an angel, Raffe, whose wings have been ripped off. Penryn and Raffe are absolutely two of my favorite characters. Raffe is beautiful and utterly sarcastic. Penryn is just your average girl trying to save her sister. These unlikely allies must find a way to work together and some sparks fly along the way. The ending…

I loved this book (and the whole Penryn and the End of Days series by Susan Ee). I think we are drawn to things to which we can relate, and this book is so similar to my own, that of course, I have to love it! We have half-angels, or Nephilim, who are hell-bent on eradicating humans from the planet. Our protagonist is tough and resourceful, and of course, there is tension between her and one of the half-angels, who falls for her. Angelfall (Susan Ee) and Wormwood (my own) were both released around the same time, so I find…
