Why read it?

1 author picked And the Mountains Echoed as one of their favorite books. Why do they recommend it?

Although I had previously read A Thousand Splendid Suns by the same author, I found And The Mountains Echoed to be far superior. The characters were very believable and endearing, and the writing was superb.

These stories about life in Afghanistan cover success and failure, sad times and happy times, and will tug at your heartstrings. Especially moving is Abdullah’s love for his young sister, Pari, whom he cared for like a parent when she was young before they were ripped apart.

I sometimes found this book hard to follow because of the constant jumps between characters and times
