My favorite read in 2026

Book cover of The Poison Daughter

Lena Gibson ❤️ loved this book because...

I loved The Poison Daughter because love and revenge were dripping from every page. I loved being able to guess parts of the story and be surprised by others. The author did a great job of weaving the past and lore into the story. The characters leapt off the page and were flawed, relatable, and distinctive. I also loved the dark magic and darker themes in this story of love and redemption.

My 2nd favorite read in 2026

Book cover of The Paris Match

Lena Gibson ❤️ loved this book because...

I loved this book because the characters were in a unique situation and were dealing with a lot more than going to a destination wedding. I enjoyed the grayness (not black and white or two dimensional) characters who wanted to do better, but genuinely struggled with healing, grief, and pain.

My 3rd favorite read in 2026

Book cover of Luna and the Lie

Lena Gibson ❤️ loved this book because...

I read this book three times this year because of the writing and characters, even taking notes for how the author made her characters interesting and observant. For example, I could tell how much Luna liked Ripley from the beginning because of how observant she is of his moods and how they relate to every eyebrow twitch and the color of his shirt. If he's wearing white, he's in a bad mood. If he's wearing gray, somewhat better. If he's wearing navy, she knows its safe to joke and talk with him. I also love how the pieces of Luna's past are woven into the present in increments, doling out just enough in this subtle, slowburn story of healing and love.
