Book cover of The Troubled Deep

Roxie Key ❤️ loved this book because...

This was SUCH a great read that feels fresh and original. Packed with smart storytelling, clever twists and turns, and memorable characters – a real page turner. I’m so invested – I can’t wait for the next instalment in Cam Killick’s story!

Why should I read it?

2 authors picked The Troubled Deep as one of their favorite books, and they share why you should read it.

What is this book about?

'Compelling and so atmospheric ... the perfect new crime series to dive into' HEAT
'Rob Parker is a master of the stone-cold twist' JANICE HALLETT
'Brilliant pacing ... a great addition to your to-be-read stacks' PRIMA
'The very definition of a one-sitting read' ROBERT RUTHERFORD

Cam Killick left the special forces with a handful of medals, stories he can't share and PTSD so bad he can only find peace under water. Working as a salvage diver in the Norfolk Broads keeps him sane, and the county's many tales of the lost keep him busy.

And one particular local unsolved mystery…

My 2nd favorite read in 2025

Book cover of The Trials of Lila Dalton

Roxie Key ❤️ loved this book because...

What an amazing concept! I sped through Lila's story, desperate to find out how and why she lost her memory, and what on earth is happening on the strange island she's found herself on. This locked room mystery with a twist is intelligently written, and full of intrigue. I highly doubt you'll want to put it down.

Why should I read it?

1 author picked The Trials of Lila Dalton as one of their favorite books, and they share why you should read it.

What is this book about?

SHE'S ON A REMOTE ISLAND. DEFENDING A MURDERER. BUT SHE REMEMBERS NOTHING.

'Unputdownable' Sophia Hannah

'Mind-blowing, audaciously inventive' Chris Whitaker

'Totally recommend. Stuart Turton meets Agatha Christie' Sarah Moorhead

'A heady, ambitious mix of courtroom drama and dystopian mystery' Daily Mail

Lila Dalton finds herself in the middle of a courtroom as the barrister for a man accused of a terrible crime. She has no memories of her life before this moment.

Outside, on the strange island where she is staying, things are even more unnerving: hostile locals, tapped calls, threats slipped under her hotel door. Hints from mysterious sources…

The Deadly Spark

By Roxie Key ,

Book cover of The Deadly Spark

What is my book about?

My book is a blend of psychological suspense and police procedural (and yes, that’s because I couldn’t quite decide which genre I preferred!). It’s set in sunny Brighton, which is my favorite place in the UK, and follows the story of Eve Starling as she investigates a fatal arson attack.

Flashbacks into her past piece together the real reason she’s struggling so much emotionally with this case. Meanwhile, another character’s story unfolds alongside Eve’s.

Anya Fernsby, the girlfriend of the woman who died in the arson attack, threw herself off the cliffs at Seaford Head that same night. Whether it was out of grief or guilt, it was Eve’s job to find out.
