Philip Henry ❤️ loved this book because...

Indisputable proof, as if it were needed, that Anna Kendrick is as adorable, funny and adorable again, as I thought she was.

'Endearingly honest' Guardian

A collection of humorous autobiographical essays by the Academy Award-nominated actress and star of Pitch Perfect, Twilight, Up in the Air, Into the Woods and Trolls.

Even before she made a name for herself on the silver screen, Anna Kendrick was unusually small, weird, defiant, and '10 per cent weird'. When she was thirteen, a classmate dropped by her house unexpectedly and discovered written evidence of Anna's social ineptitude. From then on she decided to 'keep the crazy inside my head where it belonged. Forever. But here's the…

My 2nd favorite read in 2025

Book cover of I, Partridge: We Need To Talk About Alan

Philip Henry ❤️ loved this book because...

This is textbook Partridge (even though it isn't a textbook). Norfolk's finest DJ, and some might say, folk hero, lays bare his life story like a circa-1970s Razzle centrefold. From his highs as a BBC TV presenter, to his lows when he accidentally shot one of his guests live on air (something the tabloid media picked up on). The downward spiral which saw him become Toblerone-addict and drive to Dundee in his bare feet, to his reinvention as an author with the book that announced his comeback in less than three words: Bouncing Back.

What is this book about?

Journalist, presenter, broadcaster, husband, father, vigorous all-rounder - Alan Partridge - a man with a fascinating past and an amazing future. Gregarious and popular, yet Alan's never happier than when relaxing in his own five-bedroom, south-built house with three acres of land and access to a private stream. But who is this mysterious enigma?

Alan Gordon Partridge is the best - and best-loved - radio presenter in the region. Born into a changing world of rationing, Teddy Boys, apes in space and the launch of ITV, Alan's broadcasting career began as chief DJ of Radio Smile at St. Luke's Hospital…

Book cover of Nightbitch

Philip Henry ❤️ loved this book because...

I've never been a mother, not even a parent, but I know a few people who are, and I kept thinking of all the people I must lend this book to. Apologies to Ms. Yoder for those missing sales. It is testament to the book's message and approach that I want to share it with so many. I hope the author can take that as some sort of comfort for those missing royalties.

What is this book about?

In this blazingly smart and voracious debut novel, an artist turned stay-at-home mom becomes convinced she's turning into a dog. • "A must-read for anyone who can’t get enough of the ever-blurring line between the psychological and supernatural that Yellowjackets exemplifies." —Vulture
