Book cover of Float Plan

Delise Torres ❤️ loved this book because...

In this book, the protagonist, Anna, sails across the Caribbean, and even makes a stop in my homeland of Puerto Rico. I've never gone sailing (and probably never will) so it was fun to experience this trip with her, which includes details about the different islands she visits and the people she meets along the way. I also loved the simplicity of it. There are no big twists, just a woman who goes on a trip while she's grieving the death of her fiancee and learns how strong and resilient she actually is.

What is this book about?

Since the loss of her fiance, Anna has been shipwrecked by grief - until a reminder goes off about a trip they were supposed to take together. Impulsively, Anna goes to sea in their sailboat, intending to complete the voyage alone.

But after a treacherous night's sail, she realises she can't do it by herself and hires Keane, a professional sailor, to help. Much like Anna, Keane is struggling with a very different future than the one he had planned. As romance rises with the tide, they discover that it's never too late to chart a new course.

My 2nd favorite read in 2025

Book cover of Ana Takes Manhattan

Delise Torres ❤️ loved this book because...

This book has a quirky, silly style, which took some time to get used to. But the more I read, the more invested I got. Ana is a different type of protagonist. She has a list of ideal qualities for her perfect man, but doesn't think she'll ever find him, so she decides to date four different men, who each match one of her requirements. There's a lot of trial and error for Ana (and a lot of mishaps) as she figures out what it is that she actually wants. I loved her journey and her job as a producer for a reality TV show. The ending was perfect and gave me all the feels!

Why should I read it?

1 author picked Ana Takes Manhattan as one of their favorite books, and they share why you should read it.

What is this book about?

Fans of Abby Jimenez and Alexis Daria will love this novel about one New York City woman skilled in producing swoon-worthy reality TV shows but whose own life is a mess, with nothing ever going according to plan. Ana Karina loves her job-though she isn't quite where she thought she'd be by now. As reality tv producer, she orchestrates extravagant marriage proposals that always (read: mostly) go as planned. If they don't, she's not afraid to cut and paste scenes to perfection afterward. Even if her arrogant film editor isn't a fan. But what does he know about romance anyway?…

My 3rd favorite read in 2025

Book cover of The Friendship Breakup

Delise Torres ❤️ loved this book because...

This book also has a quirky, silly style as Fallon deals with her mom friends ghosting her. I related a lot to Fallon's struggles with being a mom while trying to build her chocolate business at the age of forty. Her journey was really inspiring. I loved the themes it explores about the difficulties of finding and maintain friendships as you grow older and how sometimes you need to let go of people who made an impact in your life but may not fit into it anymore.

Why should I read it?

1 author picked The Friendship Breakup as one of their favorite books, and they share why you should read it.

What is this book about?

For fans of Laura Hankin and Jennifer Weiner, this fresh, clever, and complex debut "mom-com" explores the ups and downs of friendship and what happens when those you trust the most leave you high and dry.

A plucky protagonist who’s far from figuring it all out—but powers through with wit and determination—Fallon is a heroine millennial moms will instantly connect with.

Fallon Monroe, mother of one, self-help book junkie, and budding chocolatier, has always relied on her mom friends in the Chicago suburbs to get her through the trials of adulthood. So when her bestie Beatrice inexplicably starts ghosting her…

One Tough Cookie

Book cover of One Tough Cookie

What is my book about?

For fans of Fleabag and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend!

One Tough Cookie is a story about a flawed female protagonist who carries past trauma related to her mom and how she was raised. She needs to let go of her deeply set misbeliefs about love and relationships, and learn to not judge others and respect their choices.

Perfect for readers who love strong, complex heroines; sweet and spicy romances; and themes of found family and personal growth.
