The New York Times bestselling author returns with an irreverently sexy, tender, hilarious and surprising novel about a woman upending her life
“A frank novel about a midlife awakening, which is funnier and more boldly human than you ever quite expect….the bravery of All Fours is nothing short of riveting.”—Vogue
“A novel that presses into that tender bruise about the anxiety of aging, of what it means to have a female body that is aging, and wanting the freedom to live a fuller life…Deeply funny and achingly true.” —LA Times
Like Kevin Wilson's other stories, Run for the Hills is peopled with hilarious humans.
I loved meeting thirty-two year old Mad (Madeleine) who runs an organic farm with her mom. Until Rube shows up in a PT Cruiser and claims he's her half-brother. He's on a quest across the country to find their father who abandoned them as children.
They discover each other's quirks and passions (and siblings) along their journey.
The story isn't cliche or overtly sentimental. But it is authentic and insightful.
“A touching and generous romp of a novel . . . Wilson makes a bold and convincing case that every real family is one you have to find and, at some point, choose, even if it's the one you're born into.” — New York Times Book Review
An unexpected road trip across America brings a family together, in this raucous and moving new novel from the bestselling author of Nothing to See Here.
Ever since her dad left them twenty years ago, it's been just Madeline Hill and her mom on their farm in Coalfield, Tennessee. While it's a bit…
Clare Pooley's comedy chops are astounding. How to Age Disgracefully had me laughing aloud, right from the opening prologue in which a van full of senior citizens has been stopped by the police. The driver, community center leader Lydia, explains that she initially thought she was getting a police escort, since her old (and young) passengers desperately needed a bathroom. The unruly crowd begins to pipe up, one woman complaining that Lydia shouldn't be giving out medical information without a warrant. Then each passenger begins to bemoan being caught for sundry crimes. The cacophony rises until law enforcement shouts "Stop confessing!" and reveals the photo of the woman she's actually seeking.
Except that woman has surreptitiously disembarked and can be seen crossing the highway, walking stick clearing her way.
This scene makes the perfect button ending because throughout this novel, we learn what each character wants and is hiding.
The ending makes perfect sense and is even more touching since we've spent a whole book with these characters.
This book is a master class in joke writing, because each layer provides an unexpected yet believable twist. Every sentence is a jewel. Enjoy this farcical, illuminating, wholly moving, and human novel. Then tell everyone else too!
“Pooley weaves together the most cleverly flawed and lovable characters and then sets them free to prove that we are limitless at any age.” —Annabel Monaghan, bestselling author of Summer Romance

Dear Orchid opens the heart in unexpected ways: through true stories and new fiction that explore loss and love, silence and recovery, and hard-won resilience.
Told in a lyrical, letter-style format, this collection is an Asian American author's homage to Mary-Louise Parker’s Dear Mr. You, through letters to a girl newly freed from East Berlin, an aunt lost to Communist-era borders, and Purple Heart-decorated heroes. These intimate portraits explore the messy beauty of friendship, family, disability, and belonging.
You’ll meet a wounded hero who jokes through his pain, a beloved cat with a crayon note taped to his back (“HELP ME”), and people who refuse to be defined by what they’ve lost. Underneath the heartbreak and humor runs the quiet pull between star-crossed lovers, whose stories unfold across time, distance, and impossible odds. It’s a window into private moments that echo something universal.
Whether you’re drawn to true stories of survival or fictional narratives filled with tenderness and truth, Dear Orchid is for anyone who’s ever loved, lost, or longed to understand the emotional truth behind the quiet moments that shape us. The final chapter brings a fictional reunion with the unforgettable characters from the Goodbye Orchid trilogy, offering healing, closure, and second chances.
These aren’t just stories. They’re letters to everyday heroes. For you. For us. For the moments that make us human.
