Book cover of The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma

Sophie Venz ❤️ loved this book because...

Was recommended this book by my neuropsychatrist after I was diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) following a brain infection earlier this year. It was a very tough read in terms of triggers regarding sexual assault, but such an important topic to learn about for healing.

Book cover of Reasons to Stay Alive

Sophie Venz ❤️ loved this book because...

I've read Reasons To Stay Alive many times since it was published in 2015, when I was freshly 18 years old and had tried to take my own life. This year I listened to Reasons To Stay Alive as an audiobook so I could hear Matt's voice read the words aloud; the words that got me through the darkest depression I've ever experienced. I met Matt last week in Leeds, and am got to thank him to his face for saving my life. I'm forever indebted to his writing, for encouraging me to stay alive, and allowing me to believe in my dream of being a published author myself.

Book cover of All I Ever Wanted Was to Be Hot

Sophie Venz ❤️ loved this book because...

As a fellow Australian journalist, I've followed Lucinda Price's journey closely over the past few years as she developed Froomesworld. Her debut book, a memoir about her struggles with ED and body image, is a story every woman of every age can relate to. I (literally) read it in a single day.
