Codie Crowley delivers a fun, enigmatic and badass character in Annie Lane. I truly loved this read and though it was fast paced I took my time to thoroughly enjoy this book and was so happy I did. The lush way Codie writes is breathtaking with detail and immerses you into her world seamlessly. It's a fun, spooky and cozy read that is perfect for spooky season. 👻
The book was a captivating and one-of-a-kind experience. The portrayal of grief was beautifully handled, offering a fresh perspective. While the pacing was slower at times, I was completely engrossed. Nesbit, Dove, Drea, Bastion, and Brandy were simply unforgettable. I found myself deeply connected to them all. The ending was incredibly moving, not only because of the emotional content but also due to the bittersweet farewell to such a remarkable group of characters.
This beautifully written story is a captivating and unique experience. The author's ability to craft a stunning narrative around such a macabre subject matter makes it the perfect Halloween read. It's easily my surprise read of the year. The rich world-building, intriguing power dynamics, and relatable protagonist kept me engaged from beginning to end. Despite my lack of knowledge about ballet, the author's descriptions were captivating and twistedly beautiful. I can't wait to see what comes next!
