My favorite read in 2024

Book cover of Red Rising

Nicklous P. Adams II ❤️ loved this book because...

Red Rising gave me characters to love, scream, and root for and other characters whose existence you couldn't wait to end because of how masterfully horrible they were but loved reading them. The stakes always seemed high and real. As an action adventure, it was still really emotional and heavy. It was just an engrossing experience all around. Especially for someone that rarely reads sci-fi.

My 2nd favorite read in 2024

Book cover of Words of Radiance

Nicklous P. Adams II ❤️ loved this book because...

I think Words of Radiance is my favorite book out of the Stormlight series. Just reading about Kaladin's story arc from where he began to what he achieved in WoR was epic enough. But the best part about the book and subsequent series, is the relationshi[ps between the character and their growth together while dealing with basically the end of their world at every turn. You just fall in love with them and the different magic systems are unique and pretty awesome. Also, I just love the whole connected universe Sanderson created. I get lost in it all the time but I still appreciate the creative effort that it took to create it.

Book cover of The Poppy War

Nicklous P. Adams II ❤️ loved this book because...

The Poppy War was a surprise for me. I picked it up on a whim in the bookstore and it was in my TBR shelf for a while. When I started reading it, I couldn't put it down. I It was well written and Ran is a fabulous, take no crap, strong female main character (which I absolutely love). Honestly I loved her story arc, the fights and powers. It is just one of those books that seemed to be written specifically for me lol.
