Book cover of Night Heron

Jeff Kerr ❤️ loved this book because...

I've been reading spy fiction for years, but until I came across this book, I had never read one set in China. The author immersed me in a previously unknown world, with characters and settings that kept me glued to the page. The writing reminds me of John LeCarre's novels: convoluted, yet plausible plot twists set against a background of tragedy. This book is the first in a trilogy. Fingers crossed that Brookes will expand the series.

Book cover of Tuscan Blood

Jeff Kerr ❤️ loved this book because...

Jeff Carson's Tuscan Blood is book two in his Ali Falco series about the Italian detective. He delivers yet another fascinating plot in this one, with Ali investigating the murder of a young vintner in the Montalcino wine country. With an Italian wife and several years of residence in Italy, the author is up to the task of immersing the reader in the Italian countryside. Complex characters and tantalizing clues keep the reader engaged until the final page.
