Why read it?

1 author picked Israel as one of their favorite books. Why do they recommend it?

Tishby tells the history of Israel and its people objectively and by weaving her personal story into the narrative. While is sometimes can feel a little self-congratulatory, it was refreshing to have an objective perspective on the history and founding of Israel and Zionism in light of all of the misinformation being spread about the country. Israel's history is very long, complicated and nuanced. Tishby does an excellent job of laying things out clearly and making the millennias-long story digestible.
