Whilst initially a little confusing with time jumps, this twisting story pulled me into the depths of despair with Taylor in the best possible way. It was dark and emotional and I felt like this book had a grip around my throat that was progressively tightening. I read this twice back to back it was so good.
I'm dreaming of the boy in the tree. I tell him stories. About the Jellicoe School and the Townies and the Cadets from a school in Sydney. I tell him about the war between us for territory. And I tell him about Hannah, who lives in the unfinished house by the river. Hannah, who is too young to be hiding away from the world. Hannah, who found me on the Jellicoe Road six years ago.Taylor is leader of the boarders at the Jellicoe School. She has to keep the upper hand in the territory wars and deal with Jonah Griggsβ¦
A bit of a slog but worth the effort. It was a breath of fresh air to have some many morally upright characters fighting for love of one another. It challenged my own willingness to sacrifice for others.

I read this because of other people's recommendations but I wasn't expecting much... Boy was I wrong! It did take a couple of chapters for me to let my barriers down and just enjoy the read. From there it went from strength to strength, provoking big questions about life and death and how to live well. Both Citra and Rowan had fantastic character growth and there were some nice twisty turns in there too. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
