The Help was an insightful, sometimes disturbing look into a time and place now history. The characters carried the story and brought up emotions that are unforgettable. It's a good read from a past best left in history.

The Escape and Suicide of John Wilkes Booth

By Finis L. Bates ,

Book cover of The Escape and Suicide of John Wilkes Booth

Lee Ann Sontheimer Murphy ❤️ loved this book because...

This book, although written many years ago, was fascinating into the author's belief (it's non fiction) that John Wilkes Booth didn't die as history says. He escaped and lived a long life under an assumed name. I want to believe it could be possible but the author makes it clear that he does believe it, that he knew the man who was once John Wilkes Booth.
It provided detailed history of the time and a very personal look into what might have been.

A delightful read and historically accurate. The fictional heroine lives and moves in what was a very real world during the Revolutionary War. The author brings that time to life with detail and precision. It was a book that kept me reading to see what happened next.
