My favorite read in 2025

Book cover of Azarinth Healer

❤️ loved this book because...

Platonic ideal of a LitRPG protagonist. There’s more character and world than plot in a sense, but Ilea thinks and acts exactly like the numbers go up person I want in a progression story. Overall very relatable.

What is this book about?

Ilea likes punching things. And eating.. Unfortunately, there aren’t too many career options for hungry brawlers. Instead, the plan is to quit her crappy fast-food job, go to college, and become a fully functioning member of society. Essentially - a fate worse than death.. So maybe it's lucky that she wakes up one day in a strange world where a bunch of fantasy monsters are trying to kill her...?. On the bright side, ‘killing those monsters right back’ is now a viable career path! For she soon discovers her new home runs on a set of game-like rules that will…

My 2nd favorite read in 2025

Book cover of The Calamitous Bob

❤️ loved this book because...

While light on LitRPG elements, the world and personality of the main character pulled me in quickly. The color magic system and paths were interesting and novel. Almost as good as the author’s other series, Journey of Black and Red.

What is this book about?

Ah, Nyil, with its magic, its monsters, and its petty gods. A divine spat leaves French medic Viv stranded in the middle of an arcane disaster zone crawling with undead horrors. Thankfully, there are strange allies to be found, not least the mysterious interface that helps humans survive in this merciless world.. Viv will have to progress fast to survive this calamity and find civilisation. She will also need a bit of luck. Unless, of course, she becomes the calamity herself. After all, luck is such a fickle thing.

My 3rd favorite read in 2025

Book cover of Death Loot & Vampires

👍 liked this book because...

The main character’s humor contrasted with the dark world he’s a part of were well executed. Those dark parts of the world are also quite well thought out in many novel interesting ways.

Why should I read it?

5 authors picked Death Loot & Vampires as one of their favorite books, and they share why you should read it.

What is this book about?

Becoming a knockoff Dracula in tight leather pants was never part of Vincent’s plans. Neither was being summoned to another world by a cult of vampire wannabes. But both happened.

Now Vincent’s left picking up the tattered pieces of his humanity as he tries to grow strong enough to keep his family safe. There’s a world filled with nightmares, and the looming threat of losing his soul standing between his goal and his reality, so it’s not like it will be too hard or anything.

Hell should tremble.

A good man is going to war.
