My favorite read in 2025

Book cover of Christmas Shopaholic

Kathy Strobos ❤️ loved this book because...

I love Sophie Kinsella, and this is my favorite Christmas book. It's both laugh-out-loud funny, capturing all the joy and stress of Christmas, and also conveys the absolute heart of Christmas. Her non-materialistic half-sister is such a brilliant contrast. I also love that Becky and her husband create this holiday mantra based on the Grinch that "Whatever the Grinch can steal, that's not Christmas." Highly recommend.

What is this book about?

Celebrate Christmas with the ultimate Shopaholic! A Sunday Times bestseller.

Longlisted for the Comedy Women In Print Prize 2020

The brilliant laugh-out-loud festive novel from the Number One bestselling author.

Becky Brandon (nee Bloomwood) adores Christmas. It's always the same - Mum and Dad hosting, carols playing, Mum pretending she made the Christmas pudding, and the next-door neighbours coming round for sherry in their terrible festive jumpers.

And now it's even easier with online bargain-shopping sites - if you spend enough you even get free delivery. Sorted!

But this year looks set to be different. Unable to resist the draw…

Book cover of Yours Truly

Kathy Strobos ❤️ loved this book because...

I loved Briana and Jacob, from how they meet to the notes they exchange to their developing romance, with all its twists and turns. They were both such good people, and I wanted everything for them. I love their fake dating, and I love their families. Highly recommend.

    🐇 I couldn't put it down

Why should I read it?

4 authors picked Yours Truly as one of their favorite books, and they share why you should read it.

What is this book about?

A novel of terrible first impressions, hilarious second chances, and the joy in finding your perfect match from "a true talent" (Emily Henry, #1 New York Times bestselling author).

Dr. Briana Ortiz’s life is seriously flatlining. Her divorce is just about finalized, her brother’s running out of time to find a kidney donor, and that promotion she wants? Oh, that’s probably going to the new man-doctor who’s already registering eighty-friggin’-seven on Briana’s “pain in my ass” scale. But just when all systems are set to hate, Dr. Jacob Maddox completely flips the game . . . by sending Briana a…

Book cover of Drop Dead

Kathy Strobos ❤️ loved this book because...

Lily Chu is another auto-buy author for me, and I think this is her best book yet. I wanted to move into Dot's mansion -- it sounded amazing. I loved the whole layered mystery and the growing attraction between Nadine and Wesley. Also, the cover is gorgeous! Highly recommend!

Why should I read it?

1 author picked Drop Dead as one of their favorite books, and they share why you should read it.

What is this book about?

One mysterious mansion. Two rival journalists. Three weeks to uncover the story - and love - of a lifetime.

Obituary writer Nadine Barbault doesn't mind being called "Lady Death." It suits the ice queen persona she's cultivated to survive the fast-paced Toronto Herald. So when Nadine learns that famous (and reclusive) author Dot Voline has died, she doesn't hesitate to run the obituary...only to discover that Dot is very much alive.

Nadine's screw-up has brought Wesley Chen of the rival Spear no end of joy. She's been a thorn in his extremely ambitious side for years. But the renewed interest…

Don‘t forget about my book 😀

My Rock Star Neighbor

By Kathy Strobos ,

Book cover of My Rock Star Neighbor

What is my book about?

When a wary rock star and a cynical reporter fake date to bury a scandalous rumor, will true love be exposed as the real story?
Nick: I do my best songwriting while playing my guitar on the fire escape. Unfortunately, my in-bed-at-ten next-door neighbor, Maddie, is not a fan of my music. She clambers out on the fire escape to yell at me about making "noise.” In bunny slippers, no less. But then she trips and falls into my arms.
That photo of Maddie plastered all over me hits the papers, just as my dream recording company wants to sign my band. Which is a problem, because an obsessed fan is claiming that I’m her boyfriend and now the media is blowing up that I’m two-timing them both. Good-bye recording contract, unless….
Maddie: I’m supposed to cover the story. Not be the story! But when Nick begs me to fake date, I can’t resist the chance to be Nick’s girlfriend—even if fake—the opposite of my life as a city desk reporter. But my ex said I’m a terrible kisser, and there’s no way I want Mr. Hot Rock Star saying the same thing. Hence, clause 11 in our contract: There will be absolutely no physical contact.
Nick: When Maddie receives a threatening photo of the two of us with an X over her face, my desire to protect her suddenly feels all too real. It’s either a troll or her undercover investigation has been compromised. With both our careers at stake, is breaking up the only way to keep Maddie safe?
