❤️ loved this book because...

Olivier Burkeman seems to live inside of my own head - we share a lot of the same idiosyncrasies. With that said, I think that he has a thumb on the pulse of some of our most modern struggles. Abundance is everywhere but time is still finite - how do we make that work when we have more choice and feel like we have more time than ever? His analogies and ideas hit hard but also really land without making you feel like you need to accomplish anything in particular which is something we all need.

My 2nd favorite read in 2025

Book cover of The Buffalo Hunter Hunter

❤️ loved this book because...

There is something about Stephen Graham Jones that I can't quite put my finger on. He just chooses the best words. The sentences hit in just the right way while also taking something classic and making it new again with something entirely different to learn and notice. No one can quite hit the heartfelt horror that celebrates where everything came from while simultaneously moving the genre forward.

Told in transcribed interviews by a Blackfeet named Good Stab, who shares the narrative of his peculiar life over a series of confessional visits. This is an American Indian revenge story written by one of the new…

Why should I read it?

11 authors picked Between Two Fires as one of their favorite books, and they share why you should read it.

What is this book about?

His extraordinary debut, Those Across the River, was hailed as “genre-bending Southern horror” (California Literary Review), “graceful [and] horrific” (Patricia Briggs). Now Christopher Buehlman invites readers into an even darker age—one of temptation and corruption, of war in heaven, and of hell on earth… And Lucifer said: “Let us rise against Him now in all our numbers, and pull the walls of heaven down…” The year is 1348. Thomas, a disgraced knight, has found a young girl alone in a dead Norman village. An orphan of the Black Death, and an almost unnerving picture of innocence, she tells Thomas that…
