Haven't read a novel by Joe Hill in ages, but King Sorrow is now my favorite of his fiction. It was a huge book that kept my interest throughout. It came out late in 2025, but it kicked all my other reads down a notch.

S. P. Miskowski has been one of my favorite authors for years, but she needs way more attention from horror readers. She writes the very best of disturbed and disturbing female characters, and she outdid herself with this novel. Her main character is the best female psychopath I've ever encountered in fiction.

Having looked forward to this release honoring The Stand by Stephen King, I was so pleased with this anthology and found several new authors to investigate. My favorite story was by Meg Gardiner and took place in a dangerous and destroyed Las Vegas.
