Book cover of That's Not My Name

Greta Boris ❤️ loved this book because...

Although this was listed as Young Adult, it wasn’t simplistic. The tension was high throughout and the plot twist at the end really well done.

Book cover of That Hideous Strength

Greta Boris ❤️ loved this book because...

Although this is a very old book, its lessons never die. Lewis lived through both WWI and WWII. He saw first hand what happens when men are decieved by their own lusts, ambitions, and ultimately the fear of going against the group in power.

Why should I read it?

7 authors picked That Hideous Strength as one of their favorite books, and they share why you should read it.

What is this book about?

Just as readers have been transfixed by the stories, characters, and deeper meanings of Lewis's timeless tales in The Chronicles of Narnia, most find this same allure in his classic Space Trilogy. In these fantasy stories for adults, we encounter, once again, magical creatures, a world of wonders, epic battles, and revelations of transcendent truths.

That Hideous Strength is the third novel in Lewis's science fiction trilogy. Set on Earth, it tells of a terrifying conspiracy against humanity. The story surrounds Mark and Jane Studdock, a newly married couple. Mark is a sociologist who is enticed to join an organization…

Book cover of Vera Wong's Unsolicited Advice for Murderers

Greta Boris ❤️ loved this book because...

It’s rare, but every once in a while a book introduces you to a character you just want to spend time with regardless of the plot. It’s even better when the plot is spot on. Jesse Sutanto managed to do both in this first in series. Vera Wong made me laugh out loud. She's such an engaging character, I was willing to follow her into a pretty dark mystery.

Vera Wong is a lonely little old lady—ah, lady of a certain age—who lives above her forgotten tea shop in the middle of San Francisco’s Chinatown. Despite living alone, Vera is not needy, oh no. To Dye For

By Greta Boris ,

Book cover of To Dye For

What is my book about?

Death is Permanent. Unless It’s Not.
Imogene’s client has an unusual request. The only problem? She’s dead.
Hairstylist Imogene Lynch agrees to do a simple, if creepy, favor—styling the hair of her favorite client for her funeral. Things take a chilling turn when the body refuses to stay still. Either Imogene is losing her mind, or something far more sinister is at play.
Determined to untangle the mystery, she joins forces with the mortuary’s infuriatingly handsome night watchman. What do they uncover? Turns out her client’s death, like her hair color, wasn’t exactly natural. And worse—she’s not the only victim.
Someone is thinning out the population of Liberty Grove, and if Imogene isn’t careful, she’ll be next.
For fans of reluctant heroes, ghostly mysteries, and murder with a side of dark humor.
