I prefer novels to non-fiction, however, Ms. Kearns took me into a world of American politics with which I was familiar due to my age, but which took me behind the curtain and into the lives of these people who, I believe, were responsible for advancing the progress of the American people and making this world a better place in which to live.

Ms. Kingsolver writes beautifully and tells a story here which reflects the despair of addiction and the hope of recovery without passing judgment on anyone except the greedy drug companies who sucked the blood right out the American people they set up to be devoured by their poison.
