The setting was rich and immersive, with a world history I wanted to know more about. The characters were strong and believable. Han needs a hug and a break! Raisa needs to stop kissing everyone, but at the same time, you do you, girl. Haha. Their flaws made them both frustrating and lovable, and long before the end, I wanted to see both of them break out of their limited worlds and discover everything life had to offer.
10/10 coming-of-age story with plenty of adventure to be had. (Psst, book two is EVEN BETTER, but that's not what we're talking about here.)

Delightful and super fun! Wendy is sassy and compelling, and who doesn't want to go back to Neverland? I do.
The romance was adorable, and the book kept a beautiful lighthearted feeling (enough to fly, one might say) while still carrying the bittersweet weight of the transition into adulthood. Loved it.
Chosen as a Junior Library Guild Gold Standard Selection!

A cynical shapeshifter. A hopeful princess. A love they never saw coming.
Silas Bennett grew up in a kingdom where magic-users are persecuted, especially those with the rare ability to transform into animals. After discovering he could shapeshift into a serpent, Silas was nearly killed—only to escape to a neighboring kingdom where he could study and use his magic freely. Now, he is determined to become a professor at the university he calls home, even though he is only nineteen. But first he must distinguish himself in his research field by proving that legendary magic stealers exist.
Princess Eliza, a hopeless romantic inspired by sonnets and their promises of true love, refuses to believe her beloved Henry perished at sea. She will do whatever it takes to find him and bring him home—even if it means traveling to another country and asking for help from a shapeshifting outcast.
