Book cover of The Family Fang

Big Dog ❤️ loved this book because...

This book is genuinely unhinged in the best way. The parents are those “art people” who turn their kids’ lives into a performance, and you’re reading it like… surely not… but yes… they did. It’s absurd, awkward, and weirdly relatable if you’ve ever had family members who made everything “a thing.” Dark-funny, clever, and somehow still has heart under all the chaos.

What is this book about?

Mr and Mrs Fang called it art. Their children called it mischief. Performance artists Caleb and Camille Fang dedicated themselves to making great art. But when an artist's work lies in subverting normality, it can be difficult to raise well-adjusted children. Just ask Buster and Annie Fang. For as long as they can remember, they starred (unwillingly) in their parents madcap pieces. But now that they are grown up, the chaos of their childhood has made it difficult to cope with life outside the fishbowl of their parent’s strange world.

When the lives they’ve built come crashing down, brother and…

Book cover of This Is Where I Leave You

Big Dog ❤️ loved this book because...

If you’ve ever been forced into family time and thought “I’m going to lose it,” this is that energy in book form. The siblings are messy, hilarious, annoying, and also painfully real — like you’re laughing and cringing at the same time. It reads super fast because the dialogue is just chef’s kiss and the humour is sharp without trying too hard. Feels like a sitcom but with emotional damage sprinkled in.

    🐇 I couldn't put it down

Why should I read it?

5 authors picked This Is Where I Leave You as one of their favorite books, and they share why you should read it.

What is this book about?

A riotously funny, emotionally raw New York Times bestselling novel about love, marriage, divorce, family, and the ties that bind-whether we like it or not.

The death of Judd Foxman's father marks the first time that the entire Foxman clan has congregated in years. There is, however, one conspicuous absence: Judd's wife, Jen, whose affair with his radio- shock-jock boss has recently become painfully public. Simultaneously mourning the demise of his father and his marriage, Judd joins his dysfunctional family as they reluctantly sit shiva and spend seven days and nights under the same roof. The week quickly spins out…

My 3rd favorite read in 2025

Book cover of The Wangs Vs. The World

Big Dog ❤️ loved this book because...

This is a full family implosion… but make it funny and addictive. Everyone is dramatic, everyone has baggage, and the situations are so chaotic you keep thinking “how is this getting worse?” It’s smart, it’s snappy, and it lowkey makes you reflect on money/family expectations without being preachy. Basically: entertaining, chaotic, and you’re weirdly invested in all of them even when they’re being ridiculous.

'Fresh, energetic, and completely hilarious, The Wangs vs. the World is my favorite debut of the year.' Jami Attenberg, author of Saint Mazie and The Middlesteins

Don‘t forget about my book 😀

The Calloways Reincarnation

By Big Dog ,

Book cover of The Calloways Reincarnation

What is my book about?

Meet the Calloways: a wildly dysfunctional family whose day-to-day life feels like a sitcom that keeps getting renewed against everyone’s will. It’s chaotic, absurd, and weirdly relatable — especially if you grew up with siblings and have ever thought, “No… that didn’t happen.”
Fast, funny, and unpredictable, The Calloways: Reincarnation is the kind of book you pick up “for one chapter” and suddenly you’re in deep.
