One of my all-time favorite books is A Man Called Ove, and this reminded me of that--charming, witty, and lots of heart with every-day characters you really care about. And an octopus narrator? So unexpected, but it works.

Osman's narrating style--jumping from character to character, getting into each of their heads and making each voice unique--was a pleasure to read. And there were so many moments in this story that I giggled when Joyce, Elizabeth, Ibrahim, or Ron were in the spotlight. These characters were a joy.

Circe's tale is in equal turns tragic and hopeful, and I love watching this immortal creature grow into herself.
