Book cover of Book of the Dead

❤️ loved this book because...

This book, and the second book (Book of the dead - Sacrifice
) are up there with my most favourite serious of all times. The story was immersive, The charaters were likable and you feel compelled to root for the Main character against all odds. The plot and mechanics of the story and magic system were intresting, but not over complicated or boring. The Base origins of the book aren't anything groundbreaking, But it's written in a way which makes it stand out among the rest, The quality of the writing is amazing. Your on the edge of your seat waiting to see how the MC makes it through the story and his harsh surroundings. I like that the MC is actually inteligent, his wins feel earned and his loses devistating. When the emotional scenes hit, well I really don't tend to cry from books or movies, but for whatever reason Something really hit me at the end of book 2 and I was SOBBING. I really cabnot express my love for this book and series enough.

Book cover of Bastard

❤️ loved this book because...

Amazing reincarnation book. Seriously clever Main character - Set in a world with magic, but grounded in a historic setting of Medevil France. The world is intresting and well thought out, The politics are super intresting, I love hearing about the infighting between French nobles houses and royalty (Of course it's all in a fictional magical version of historic France, But it's great). Always love a main character that works hard to make his victories satisfying. A refreshing take on the genre. The audiobook has the most amazing narrator for this book and the series.

What is this book about?

In a former life, Jack was gifted, meaning he possessed peculiar abilities. If rich folks found themselves in a jam, Jack could use his talents to get them out of it. Where others were sure to fail, Jack’s aristocratic clientele could always count on him to finish jobs cleanly, efficiently, and leave no trace, for which his services commanded a hefty fee.

But one day, Jack picked a fight with the wrong man and his old life came to an end. But, as it turned out, his story was far from over.

A mysterious supernatural being whisked Jack's consciousness away…

My 3rd favorite read in 2024

Book cover of Dreamer's Throne

❤️ loved this book because...

I love the main character, the world, and story. It's amazing to see a main character with an actual disability (Wheelchair bound) that doesn't get magically cured and goes about fighting monsters and such. A smart MC that uses his wits, skills, and intelligence to survive in a world not kind to the weak. I like that he succeeds and becomes strong, even being physically weak - He still faces monsters and life threting situations, but he uses his smarts to survive, not physical strenght. I also liked seeing how he manages his disability while living every day in a medevil style world - Not suited to help him in any way. Well written story, very interesting and original.
