Book cover of An Adventure Brewing

❤️ loved this book because...

I am pretty sure the Author is an Isekai'ed dwarven brewer who was thrown into the body of a human fantasy writer on our world. There is so much knowledge of brewing along with the creativity of an engaging fantasy world with its own unique magic and a slice of life from what would normally be just an NPC's perspective.

What is this book about?

In his new fantasy world, only he can show his people the taste they're missing.Pete is a simple man who enjoys a good drink amongst good friends. Not too much to ask, right? Now, he's trapped in a fantasy world far from home, stuck underground in the body of a smelly dwarf with fantastic facial hair. The worst part? The swill that the dwarves are falling all over themselves to drink. Its flat, it's watery, and it has the alcohol content of a rancid coconut. Can Pete save the dwarves from their own sour fate, or will he be forever doomed to plink…

My 2nd favorite read in 2024

Book cover of Legends & Lattes

❤️ loved this book because...

Seeing the "other side" of adventurers, when the main characters have grown weary of battling monsters, fetch quests and escort missions, the sleeping on the cold hard ground and just want a change of pace in their life. What is an adventurer to do when they retire the adventuring life? They open up a business of course!
The trials and tribulations of starting a business, especially one no one has heard of in a new town and seeing the world from the eyes of a shop keeper who has hung her sword up (quite literally) over the bar, instead of from the battlefield.

What is this book about?

High fantasy, low stakes - with a double-shot of coffee.

After decades of adventuring, Viv the orc barbarian is finally hanging up her sword for good. Now she sets her sights on a new dream - for she plans to open the first coffee shop in the city of Thune. Even though no one there knows what coffee actually is.

If Viv wants to put the past behind her, she can't go it alone. And help might arrive from unexpected quarters. Yet old rivals and new stand in the way of success. And Thune's shady underbelly could make it all…

My 3rd favorite read in 2024

Book cover of Sword & Thistle

❤️ loved this book because...

The author has taken what is one of the two most detested types of quests in the RPG world (its a toss up between escort quests and fetch quests for which gamers hate the most), and made something magical, engaging, and inspirational. Go and get XX number of mushrooms and bring them back by XX day. You wouldn't this would make for an engaging book but I could not put it down (and on audio book I would sit in my car after my commute for 30+ minutes just listening more).
An engaging and charismatic main character, a complex back story, and some entertaining friends met along the way made for an amazing read/listen
