My favorite read in 2024

Book cover of Cave 13

Jason Kristopher ❤️ loved this book because...

First and foremost because I'm the supervillain in the book! But also because Maberry is a mentor and good friend. But *mainly* because his Joe Ledger series is incredibly well-written and engaging, and has a depth that's astounding given how approachable it is.

My 2nd favorite read in 2024

Book cover of Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing: A Memoir

Jason Kristopher ❤️ loved this book because...

What a heartwrenching memoir! To read about Matt's struggles and to know that they overwhelmed him in the end broke me a little. But throughout the book he was honest, straightforward, and clear, and what came through was his sincere desire to help others avoid/get past the demons he had fought with most of his life. Hard to read, but so worth it.

Jason Kristopher ❤️ loved this book because...

There's not a lot of merfolk fiction out there, and J. K. Barber have outdone all the rest. This amazing tale of political intrigue and danger at the bottom of the ocean is fraught with action, deception, and honor. Two thumbs way way up for this wonderful book.
