My favorite read in 2024

Book cover of Born of Water

❤️ loved this book because...

It is well written. So are it's sequels. It is very entertaining, not a dull read. The way Autumn writes about magic, and her entire story plot, is thought out so well. I recommend this book and all it's sequels!

My 2nd favorite read in 2024

Book cover of Discern

❤️ loved this book because...

This is an interesting tale about elemental magic. The characters are fun and lively and the plot just drew me in. I received book 1 for free, but when I started reading it, I was not expecting to be plunged into a magical and action-packed world. Many other worldly scenes are so well written as if they were meant to be there. It is also a story of self discovery. I have nearly all of Andreas books. They've all been excellent!

My 3rd favorite read in 2024

Book cover of Augustus Caesar's World

👍 liked this book because...

I was not much into history when I was in school. Now I am homeschooling my children, starting from the very beginning. This year we are learning about Rome, and this book is included in the curriculum. I learned so much that I didn't know or understand in the past! It was very cool learning and finally understanding and being able to teach my child. If you're curious about Octavian and Marc Antony and the history surrounding them, and also how this time frame lines up with Jewish history and the birth of Jesus, this book is a great read!

By Genevieve Foster ,

Why should I read it?

1 author picked Augustus Caesar's World as one of their favorite books, and they share why you should read it. This book is for kids age 12.

What is this book about?

Considered the innovator of "horizontal history," Genevieve Foster became frustrated when her two school-aged children complained about the boring presentation of history in their school textbooks. This frustration led to Foster's first book, George Washington's World (1941).

In her unique approach, Foster weaves a story of the world around her central character; rather than focusing exclusively on geo-political events, as most textbooks do, she includes stories of scientific discovery and invention, music, literature, art, and religion. Her keen intuition for stories will especially delight and amuse youthful readers.

In Augustus Caesar's World, Foster traces the seven major civilizations of Rome,…
