Susan Pease Banitt ❤️ loved this book because...

I love a book that dives deep into the psyche and at the same time has some nonordinary reality themes. It encouraged self-reflection without being preachy.

My 2nd favorite read in 2025

Book cover of A Court of Thorns and Roses

Susan Pease Banitt ❤️ loved this book because...

I've read a lot of fantasy. I really loved the main female character's mix of toughness and longing. The dangers were original and fun. There were some good twists. The world building was very good. And it was fun/sexy.

Book cover of Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe

Susan Pease Banitt ❤️ loved this book because...

We don't have enough LGBTQ books - especially coming of age novels. I loved everything about this book. I loved all the diversities represented, the worlds these two boys inhabited, their love and their adolescent struggles. It was challenging, heartwarming and real.

Why should I read it?

8 authors picked Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe as one of their favorite books, and they share why you should read it. This book is for kids age 11, 12, 13, and 14.

What is this book about?

This Printz Honor Book is a "tender, honest exploration of identity" (Publishers Weekly) that distills lyrical truths about family and friendship.

Aristotle is an angry teen with a brother in prison. Dante is a know-it-all who has an unusual way of looking at the world. When they meet at the swimming pool, they seem to have nothing in common. But as the two loners start spending time together, they discover that they share a special kind of friendship--the kind of friendship that changes lives and lasts a lifetime. And it is through their friendship that Ari and Dante will learn…

Don‘t forget about my book 😀

Women Therapists on Healing

By Susan Pease Banitt (editor) , Larissa Miranda (editor),

Book cover of Women Therapists on Healing

What is my book about?

Women Therapists on Healing is a powerful anthology of personal essays from women therapists who know trauma from the inside out. This three-part collection braids lived experience with clinical wisdom, offering a compassionate lens on healing that crosses cultural, generational, and systemic boundaries.

Far beyond a typical guide to navigating PTSD, this book challenges outdated narratives and sheds light on the effects of marginalized topics, such as chronic invisible illness, intergenerational trauma, racism, ritual abuse, and human trafficking.

This book will especially resonate with

women recovering from trauma;
healers and advocates seeking growth and guidance;
health professionals committed to trauma-informed and anti-racist practices;
friends and family who love and support survivors.

The diverse voices in these essays honor the arduous path of healing as a reckoning, a reclamation, and a sacred reminder that we do not walk alone.
