What is this book about?

Book cover of Simple Church

Scott LaPierre 👍 liked this book because...

Our elders recently read Simple Church together for our annual elder retreat, and it was both refreshing and convicting. The book challenged us to reexamine how easily churches can become cluttered with programs that distract from the clear, biblical mission of making disciples. Rainer and Geiger do an excellent job reminding leaders that simplicity is not about doing less for the sake of convenience—it’s about doing what matters most with clarity, focus, and purpose.

The authors draw from Scripture and practical research to show that healthy churches have a clear process for helping people move from unbelief to spiritual maturity. Their emphasis on clarity, movement, alignment, and focus gave our leadership team valuable tools to evaluate how we shepherd our congregation.

We came away encouraged to streamline our ministries, communicate more intentionally, and ensure that everything we do contributes to making disciples of Jesus Christ. Simple Church is a must-read for any church leader who wants to align ministry strategy with God’s design for disciple-making.

1 author picked Simple Church as one of their favorite books, and they share why you should read it.

What is this book about?

The simple revolution is here. From the design of Apple products to Google's uncluttered homepage, simple ideas are changing the world.

Being Content God's Way

By Scott LaPierre , Douglas Bond (foreword),

Book cover of Being Content God's Way

What is my book about?

Philippians 4:12 reveals a profound truth: there is a “secret to learning contentment.” As Paul declares in the next verse, he learned to be content from the strength Christ provides: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Just as a tree’s unseen root system gathers vital resources for the tree, the unseen part of contentment is being “rooted and built up in Christ” (Colossians 2:7).

With Being Content God’s Way, you will…

learn to “be content with what you have” (Hebrews 13:5)
enjoy personal stories and application to daily life
be equipped to put off covetousness (Colossians 3:5)
receive biblical answers to common questions
discover why “godliness with contentment is great gain” (1 Timothy 6:6-10)

Being content in all things is not an elusive concept. Instead, it is a tangible reality within our reach through a relationship with Christ.
