Every so often a book comes along and blows your mind. I’m not saying this lightly. I read a fair amount, and I’m a really tough critic, and … this book was magnificent. It drew me in from the opening pages and never let go. It isn’t just the spectacular description and terrific character development, the taut suspense and the mind-boggling plot reveals, it’s all of that plus so much more, strung together by Binge’s great writing. A man lost in his own guilt, driven to the most impossible tasks and locations to distract himself from it, a mountain appearing seemingly out of nowhere from which none come back the same and where nothing makes sense. The two of them are destined to meet—each a stunning character in their own right—for a most memorable of reckonings. Cramming science, philosophy, and faith; crossing and blending genres, this sci-fi-nightmare of the most literary kind is a beauty to behold and an adventure like no other. I loved reading this book; it’s the sort of reading experience that makes you fall in love with books all over again. Entertaining, moving, and surprising by turns, the narrative is completely engaging, leaving you to want nothing but more. A terrific book and well worth the climb.
A mind-bending speculative thriller in which the sudden appearance of a mountain in the middle of the Pacific Ocean leads a group of scientists to a series of jaw-dropping revelations that challenge the notion of what it means to be human.
IF YOU EVER READ THIS TELL OTHERS DON'T COME HERE.
When a mountain mysteriously appears in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, a group of scientists are sent to investigate - and discover what is at the summit.
Eminent scientist, explorer and chronic loner Harry Tunmore is among those asked to join the secret mission - and he has…
This was good. Very good. In fact, there’s a very good chance this book is brilliant. It’s certainly one of the best I’ve read in some time. One of those books that awes you as a reader and humbles you as a writer. Everything about it, from the cleverly constructed many-worlds narrative to the language itself is a thing of singular beauty. Quantum physics and personal connections are the two constant and equally unfathomable factors that the protagonist of this novel wrestles with, from page to page, from world to world. And it is a journey well worth taking. Emotionally evocative, gut-wrenchingly real, wildly imaginative, vividly rendered, terribly romantic even … in what universe would you not want to read it?

Raffi is a physicist who spends their days removing stars from pictures of the night sky, dreaming about parallel universes. In this one, they're falling for a queer sculptor named Britt who they almost met when they were kids - if only they'd had the courage to say hello.…
This book was a completely random find that attracted me with its cover and size. And then I started reading it, and it blew me away. It's a deceptively simple story of longing for what is gone, set in a world overtaken by zombies, and told from a very personal, very intimate perspective of an unusually sentient zombie. Being hungry is the driving force here; hungry for a love done no longer there, for the shared past and the future that could have been, for a connection ... and yes, for flesh. The real standout here is the writing - lyrical and haunting, it possesses the reader completely. Stylistically economical yet never sparse, and strikingly beautiful all the way. This is a book you can get lost in, in the best possible way. The overall vibe here is the one modern poetry often tries for and fails, using the language to convey mood, tone, emotions as a profound and immersive experience. This one was a pure wow and a pleasure to read.

This third perspective on myself is disconcerting.
The heroine of the spare and haunting It Lasts Forever and Then It's Over is voraciously alive in the afterlife. Adrift yet keenly aware, she notes every bizarre detail of her new reality. And even if she has forgotten her name and much of what connects her to her humanity, she remembers with an implacable and nearly unbearable longing the place where she knew herself and was known-where she loved…
