This is a story about grief, loneliness, and finding friendship between living beings. Humans to humans. Humans to animals, etc. it made me feel their connection and support for each other. I laughed and I cried through this book. Overall, I felt warm, optimistic and hopeful at the end of this story.

My 2nd favorite read in 2024

Book cover of Strong Like the Sea

❤️ loved this book because...

This author writes middle grade stories that need to be read by the young and the old. Our main characters are delightful children with something that is different about them. In this story two childhood friends are playmates until they aren’t. No rhyme or reason why one character is no longer going out to play with her friend. When they meet up at school in the fall, they are just classmates, until the second child starts developing a chronic illness.
I learn so much from this author’s books.

❤️ loved this book because...

A group of lonely women, living in a small town, decide to start a book club. The more time these strangers spend together, the closer they become. This is a heartwarming story about found friendship and acceptance from past traumas endured by each woman. It was emotional, uplifting, and heartwarming. I recommend the entire series.
