The focus Miranda July puts on how our thoughts and expectations of others and ourselves can so easily flip when our circumstances change, or simply when we learn something new about our environment, always reminds me of my own inconstancy, how often I will abandon a preconception and immediately believe a new one with equal certainty. There is no solid ground beneath our feet, but we adapt so easily and unthinkingly that really it's no bother.
